(FDB), a subsidiary of Hearst Corporation, is the top publisher of pharmaceutical information used in information systems serving hospitals (EHRs), physician practices, state health programs, and others for the purpose of medication decision support. I was brought on board as a contractor to develop clinical application software for the MedKnowledge Framework (MKF) API.

 

• Developed 3 clinical modules: Image, Imprint, State and Federal Controlled Substances.

At the University of San Francisco, one of the oldest universities in the city, I served in a technical capacity evaluating, planning, and developing online tools and database driven solutions for the USF web site.  This includes the management and development of projects from concept through implementation, serving as a liaison between university clients and the Web Services team.

 

• As social media sites were putting their APIs in the cloud (Facebook, Google, LinkedIn) I came up with a recruitment application showcasing alumni using the LinkedIn API.

At UCSF Children's Hospital I worked for Dr. Yao Sun, medical director of the William H. Tooley Intensive Care Nursery. Dr. Sun received his medical degree from UCLA and received a doctorate in computer science from MIT. He is an expert in the field of neonatology and medical informatics and was awarded a grant to develop his vision of a fully connected intensive care nursery which I worked on with him.

 

• I developed, tested and implemented an innovative web based clinical application called a Total Parenteral Nutrition Calculator.I performed the project analysis, design, testing and implementation.This project made use of SaaS, connecting to backend patient data.The application is slated to be included in the UCare suite of applications.I also developed substantial technical documentation describing the functionality of the application, including UML sequence diagrams.

• I project managed, developed, tested and implemented the neonatal web portal.This included working with faculty and staff throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, specification development, coding, testing and implementation.

Sylantro Systems was a VoIP telephony company that enabled hosted IP communication services across fixed, mobile, and cable networks. Sylantro's Synapps Web Services provide a carrier-grade, feature-rich, web services-enabled common capability for creating new fixed/mobile converged experiences for businesses and consumers. Sylantro customers included AT&T, China Netcom, Nuvox, QWEST, StarHub, Swisscom, and others. As their developer evangelist I created tutorials for using their API and developed demonstration applications.

 

• Developed tutorials for developing cutting edge web service telephony applications.

• Created a branded CMS website that provided developer resources for application development.

As a neophyte techie and developer I was involved in a variety of activities and projects, including implementation of ad serving functionality, website analysis and reporting, TeleCheck payment processing, coding of Active Server Pages, search tool functionality, and product registration and download.
